Why is my dog scared of me because I took her swimming?

Kimmie has been in the pool with me before and never acted scared of me. We got her a life jacket and put her in the pool with me and she hasn’t been the same since. It has been three days. Is there anything I can do? Thank you.

I just moved to Maryland and live right on a river, with lots of creeks nearby. At the local kayak store they recommended a recreational kayak, the Pungo 120, but I’m looking for some unbiased opinions. Once I’m comfortable in the kayak, I’d like to take my dog (35 lb mixed breed) with me – she’s got a life jacket and has been canoing many times, so I know she’d love this – so any additional advice on kayaking with a dog, or kayaks good for human plus dog, would be appreciated.

I guess I should add that I’m not as familiar with sit-on-top kayaks, so I’d need to be really sold on why that would be a better option. Also I already know how to do an eskimo roll, having been white water kayaking once. And the dog has the best doggie PDF that money can buy.

What are some exercise activities good for an older lab with arthritis?

He is a lab/gret pyr estimated to be 13 years of age. No displasia yet but is on a regimen of glucoseamine for arthritis. I have been letting him swim with a life jacket but it is getting to be to cold for that now. Can exercise help arthritis? I am particularly concerned because I will be living on the second floor untill spring so he must use stairs about 3x a day.

Should people purchase dogs from breeders or should they always adopt?
