How much do Scottish Collies shed?

Do they shed alot? are the considered good for Allergy sufferers?
I know no dogs are allergy free… but are these dogs usually better for allergies?

What are some good small to medium dog breeds?

I live in a 2 bedroom inner suburb unit with a small backyard but I really want a dog. I am willing to walk it from a half hour – and hour a day. Obviously I will only be getting a small to medium sized dog otherwise it would be cruel. I would like a dog that I will be able to train, doesn’t bark much, it dog and child friendly and doesn’t have too many potential health issues. Any ideas?

Do smooth coated Border Collies shed as much as the rough coated?

I am looking into Border Collies, and I was wondering if the smooth coated ones shed as much? Please help.
