Your Questions About Organic Dog Food Recipes
Michael asks…
Can any one recommend an organic dog cookie/treat recipe ?
I have been trying to eat organic food for the last 6 months, and I feel my dog Lilly is missing out, the only organic cookies I can find she does not like and they are quite expensive.

Where can I find information on the AAFCO dog food standards?
I don’t use commercial food anymore-I make homemade organic raw diets for my cats and dog from meat etc. and vitamins sold for human consumption. However, I want to make sure they’re getting the right amounts of vitamins and things. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks!

Thats a tough one since they allow euthanized animals from shelters and vet clinics to be grinded into food (meatmeal) and allow other disgusting products in it. Ever hear of the woman Ann Martin? She wrote a book called ‘food pets die for, shocking facts about pet food’, it is excellent and also describes the animal cruelty performed by some companies such as Iams. In the back of the book she has recipes to make for your dogs and cats and talks a little bit about what they need.
The best advice is to ask an Animal Nutritionist, not a veterinarian because they generally don’t know what nutrition is best (they often get deals from pet companies like science diet and iams to advertise their food for a discount and the vet doesn’t even really know how good that food is for an animal). I am really into talking about this so sorry if I am going on. But check out an animal nutritionist and I highly recommend reading that book.

Does anyone have a recipe for the hard yogurt or carab coating used on dog treats?
I only feed my dog all natural, organic, human-grade foods- including treats and need a recipe for that yogurt or carab coating they use to make designs on them. I got recipes for the actual treats, just need the recipe for the coating. Thanks!

All that’s required is to melt either your yogurt or carob chips in the microwave or a sauce pan and either dip/brush or pipe your cooled treats.
