Your Questions About Rough Collie

Donald asks…

Is a Rough Collie Border Collie cross a high energy dog?

The local SPCA has a border/rough collie cross thats gorgeous and seems fairly placid. I know that Rough collie‘s aren’t as high energy and have lower energy than most sheep herding dogs. I also know that with a mix the pupp may have one or the other trait or it may get inbetween and its really hard to predict the outcome. Has anyone had this mix before?

Lizzie asks…

I want to take my rough collie traveling?

I really want to take my full grown rough collie, Lee-Roy, places (like camping or visiting family) but there are a few problems.
1. i got him when he was almost a year old and he had never ridden in a car before, he got really nervous when we were ridding back to my house
2. I have another dog, but he is really protective and he has bit people so i don’t want to bring him in public, but i feel really bad about leaving him behind.
any tips on what to do? how do i get my collie less afraid of car rides? is there anything i could do for my other dog?

Sharon asks…

Should i get a rough collie or a smooth collie puppy?

I currently have a 4 month old male Airedale/Irish terrier mix and am looking into getting another puppy preferably a collie. My question is what are the pros and cons of both? I know that rough collies require more grooming and probably shed more but what else? Thanks!
